East Van Modern
Modern East Van Family home with a mixture of structural plants surrounded by spectacular foliage textures. Vancouver.
This modern and sleek family home needed an equally stunning front garden.
The minimalist concrete slab path and House number sign lead to a generously proportioned entry stairs and porch.
A Japanese Maple and much loved Aralia elata add height and drama over a mixed planting of evergreens and herbaceous perennials, woven through with ribbons of grasses and clipped shrubs. The primary focus in this garden is on foliage colour and architectural form, with flowering plants taking a back seat.
The colour palette compliments the house with cool blues and greys, off-set by the dramatic tones of Hydrangea aspera ‘Plum Passion’, Sambucus nigra ‘Black Lace’ and Ophiopogon nigrescens. A larger percentage of evergreens and late season grasses makes this a garden that works hard year round.
